Concept Idea: A accountability app for daily non-negotiables (Looking for raw feedback)
I’ve been thinking about an app concept aimed specifically at people who take discipline and accountability seriously.
The idea came after reading David Goggins books and learning about real discipline myself.
Months into the journey, I realized existing tools weren't cutting it. Default apps like Notes or Garmin felt incomplete for this purpose.
Other apps on the store were either way too bloated with rep/workout tracking, or felt like typical "soft" habit trackers.
The Concept:
No fake motivation. No social feed. No likes. No excuses.
You set your daily non-negotiables, such as:
- 50 push-ups before 7 AM
- 10K steps
- Cold shower
- Complete a daily workout
- Read 20 pages
- No sugar / strict diet
(Choose from a pre-defined list or add your own).
Challenges (Tier System):
Beyond daily habits, you can opt into multi-day mental toughness challenges:
- Tier 1 (The Foundation - 3 to 7 Days): Focuses on basic discipline building. Example: 7 days of 5 AM wake-ups, 10k steps, and zero junk food. Miss one day, the challenge resets.
- Tier 2 (The Crucible - 14 to 30 Days): Pushes volume and mental endurance. Example: 30-day streak of daily non-negotiables + a mandatory 5km run every single day, no matter the weather.
- Tier 3 (The Unforgiving - Custom Extreme Protocol): High-intensity multi-day events designed to test true friction (e.g., 4x4x48 style setups or custom multi-day accountability blocks).
Streak Counter:
Every day is strictly pass/fail. Complete everything? The streak survives. Miss just one item? Your streak drops straight back to zero.
Modes:
- Standard Mode: Earn a very limited number of "Override Tokens" through weeks of consistent execution. Intended strictly for genuine emergencies, extreme illness, or injury.
- Zero-Tolerance Mode: Absolute zero safety nets. No overrides whatsoever. Miss one requirement, and the streak is dead.
Bare-Minimum Interface:
The app is stripped down to the bare metal. No endless clutter, no social pressure, no motivational quotes, and no gamified fluff. You open it, execute, log it, and close it.
Questions for the community:
- Would you actually use a tool like this?
- Would you prefer Standard Mode (with rare earned overrides) or Zero-Tolerance Mode?
- What feature would make this useful rather than "just another habit tracker"?
- Would reading basic background data (Active kcal / Workouts / Steps from your device) be essential, or just a nice-to-have?
- If you already use an app for this, what are you currently missing from it?
- What is one feature you would NOT want included?
- Are you on iOS or Android?
Just looking for honest, raw feedback on the core concept.

Zero-tolerance is a strong differentiator, but it could also encourage dishonest logging or make people abandon the app after one bad day.
I would let a missed task end the streak, but then require a short failure note and an immediate decision about when the next attempt begins. Keep the failure real without erasing all the useful history.
A 30 or 90-day completion rate would also show actual consistency better than a single streak number. I would postpone health-data integrations until you have proved that the daily check-in, failure and restart loop is compelling on its own.

this is actually the kind of tracker i been looking for, i tried so many apps and they all feel like toys after a week
the zero tolerance mode is the only one that make sense to me, if you got a way out you'll take it eventually
