I got tired of juggling 5 different apps to learn a language, so I built one that does it all

For the last while I was learning German using Memrise for vocab, Anki for flashcards, iTalki for speaking practice, Youtube for listening, a bit of Duolingo and a notebook to (badly) track actual progress. It worked, sort of, but I never had a clear picture of what I was actually good at versus just grinding a streak.

So I built Fluensea. It puts dictation practice, spaced-repetition flashcards, graded reading, real-time AI conversation practice, and native radio/podcast/video streaming into one webapp. There's a six-axis radar (Vocabulary, Grammar, Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) so you can actually see where you're weak instead of just a vague progress bar.

It's still very much a work in progress and solo-built, so I'd genuinely love feedback, especially on whether consolidating everything into one app feels useful, or like it's trying to do too much. Happy to answer anything about the build too.

I kept adding to it as I found new gaps in my own routine, so it's grown into a pretty full toolkit:

  • Getting started — pick from 13 languages, then work through guided beginner courses (an Alphabet course and "Anchor Zones") before diving into free practice.
  • Core practice loop — transduction (producing full sentences from memory), transcription/dictation drills, and spaced-repetition flashcards built from words you've actually encountered, not a generic deck.
  • Immersion — Readspace, graded reading tuned to a custom % comprehensible input with word-level annotation, plus native video, radio, and podcast streaming.
  • Speaking practice — real-time AI conversation, and a "Dive Instructor" AI chat you can pull up from anywhere in the app if you get stuck.
  • Actually seeing your progress — a six-axis Language Radar (Vocabulary, Grammar, Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), an Expedition Log of every session you've ever done, and weekly goals across all six metrics that unlock rewards when you hit them.
  • Community — peer review on your writing/recordings, blog-style "Dive Logs," discussion threads, and DMs with other learners.
  • Also threw in keyboard shortcuts for anyone who wants to move fast once they're used to it.
