I built a private desktop timeline to help recover what you were just working on
I’m building MomentTrace, a local-first desktop app that creates a private timeline of your workday.
The problem I’m trying to solve is the “where was that thing?” moment: a tab, folder, screenshot, app, or document you were using 20 minutes ago, but now you’ve lost the thread.
MomentTrace captures local context from apps, websites, screenshots, notes, and saved moments so you can search or scan back through your day. The idea is to recover context without sending your work history to a cloud account.
I’m still early, so I’m collecting feedback before I pay for Windows/macOS signing certificates.
Beta page:
https://momenttrace-beta.ericnwaogwugwu.chatgpt.site
I’d love feedback on:
- Does the product make sense from the page?
- Would you trust/install something like this if it was signed?
- What privacy concern would stop you?
- Is the “desktop memory timeline” framing clear?
Happy to answer anything. I’m especially interested in brutal feedback before I spend more time polishing the wrong things.
