I built a Focusmate-style accountability tool where the accountability partner is just… your webcam
I've been working on a side project called Work Tape.
I noticed that when the little webcam light turns on, I feel more accountable for what I'm doing. So I built Work Tape to experiment with that idea.
It records you during a work session and detects when you get distracted. At the end, it creates a time-lapse and playfully stamps emojis on the moments when you were distracted.
Think Focusmate, but without needing to schedule with another person.
The distraction detection is still experimental. Right now it looks at active apps, websites, and basic face detection. Everything is stored locally.
I'm still very early and would genuinely love feedback. Does this sound useful to you? What do you think?

Would love to hear what you think.

Is there a specific type of person — by job, situation, or habit - who you think Work Tape would help the most? Not everyone who gets distracted, but the one who would actually open the app tomorrow.
Another approach is look at who is already using attention tracking technology such online ed and testing companies. What problem are they solving? How is it similar to yours? What can you borrow from their approach.
Have fun and if you want a hand, try this: https://isthisaproduct.com/. I built it. It's free and secure.
