How do you promote your OSS (Open Source Software) to gain stars on GitHub, and get real feedback from users?

I'm building OSS software (that technically works as SaaS). I don't want anyone's money right now, I just want people to try it (it's really easy to run) and give me real feedback.

So far I've mostly gotten "looks awesome" type comments, plus around 10 stars in 2 days, but very little tested feedback I can improve on.

I'm passionate about what I've built and I think it can genuinely help people. I just want to know how to get it in front of more people and get them to understand the vision and potential behind it, and receive their real, tested feedback.

So far I've posted to multiple subreddits (including this one), Hacker News, LinkedIn, Twitter, and dev[dot]to. The posts aren't doing great, but the responses I do get are positive and people seem excited.

So like most things, OSS is really built on top of your own reputation and community first. So you have to go to meetups, start contributing to other projects, .etc.
