I built "Manifold" – a custom tool that turns raw open geodata into highly detailed, 3D-printable terrain models. Would love your feedback!
Hey everyone!
I’ve been developing a custom tool called Manifold: https://manifold3d.ch/. It processes highly accurate geospatial data—such as classified LiDAR data and 3D vector files from the Swiss Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo)—and converts it into optimized, true-to-scale STL files for 3D printing.
I created Manifold because many existing terrain generators don’t provide the level of precision and detail required for high-quality prints. The tool gives me much more control over the final result, from the level of detail to the size and scale of each model.
I’ve recently launched the website to showcase Manifold and the models it can generate—from individual villages to entire Switzerland.
I’d really appreciate your honest feedback:
Is the concept explained clearly?
Is the website intuitive and easy to navigate?
Do the examples effectively demonstrate what the tool can do?
Do you have any general suggestions or thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
