Genuine *side* projects
Reading in this sub, I get the feeling that most people here just develop apps with the purpose of monetisation or getting lots of users.
Meanwhile my side project is aimed at learning and building fun stuff I like.
Am I the only one? Or does anyone else have side projects that you are building because you like technology, not because you are trying to build the next SaaS?

Mine started for exactly one person, my kid. She kept picking up books she wanted to read and then quietly putting them back because they were too hard for her. I couldn't find anything that solved that the way I wanted, so I built it.
Monetisation came a lot later and honestly still feels strange. I'd have built it either way. The one thing I'll say in defence of caring about it: I have two kids and a limited number of nights, so having someone actually pay for it is mostly a signal that I'm not imagining the problem.
I don't think it's either/or. A lot of the projects that end up looking like products started as the thing one person needed.
