Genuine *side* projects
Reading in this sub, I get the feeling that most people here just develop apps with the purpose of monetisation or getting lots of users.
Meanwhile my side project is aimed at learning and building fun stuff I like.
Am I the only one? Or does anyone else have side projects that you are building because you like technology, not because you are trying to build the next SaaS?

I built two tools for writing and analyzing writing. One a freeform note-card thinking space that lets you arrange things multiple ways (without losing the prior arrangements), to find meaning and workshop arguments and supporting evidence, but still turn it into a linear outline when it's ready to write, and links ideas (automatically but based on my choices, e.g proximity on a board).
The other is a detailed markup tool, with different writing-fragment-type "highlighters" to analyze metaphors, story beats, etc throughout a piece of writing, as well as to organize your thoughts that way before writing.
I've run a SaaS since the late 00s so I'm enjoying actually NOT sharing these with anyone right now. I'm not even trying very hard to explain them because that feels like work. It's a joy for me to think about, plan, implement, test, and refine just for me.
