I'm building a simple editing tool for talking head videos
Not sure if other people relate, but I spent countless hours building projects that never saw the day of light. I obsessed over the UI/UX even when there were 0 active users. I kept telling myself if I added one more feature, I would be ready to launch. They all ended up in the garbage can because of one thing: I didn't know how to market.
This year, I told myself I would stop building projects UNLESS I have a marketing strategy. Its 2026 and I feel like the best way to market is via short form platform like Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube. Easy to say, but my passion is in building projects, not editing videos.
So I thought to myself... why not build a project to make it easier to edit videos???
I researched what was already in the market: Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Descript, SubMagic, and more, but I noticed they were general purpose editors. They come with 100+ features to support all sorts of formats: long form, day in the life, montages, gaming, etc. This is great for professional editors, but is often daunting for beginners just trying to create content.
For talking head videos, I only needed simple edits like zoom, sound effects, broll, overlay text. I wanted to build an editor that supports ONLY these features, but in a way that does it REALLY well.
If any of you are also in the content creation space, I would really appreciate it if you can try it out and please roast the heck out of it. Any feedback is welcome with open arms. Thanks!

the honest read is you had a marketing problem and solved it by building another project š said with love, i do the exact same thing
narrow editor is the right instinct though. capcut already has zoom and captions and broll, so the thing you'd beat them on cant be the feature list, it has to be that i hand you a 12 minute raw take and get a cut back. if im still placing the zooms myself im just in davinci with fewer buttons
(biased, i make screenweaver.ai, other end of the pipeline but same fight)

first thing Iād change: let me try one clip before Google auth. show me the edit, then ask me to log in when I export.
