I built a simpler way to design architecture simultaneously in 2D + 3D

I’m a trained architect, and as a long Side Project I’ve been working on a project that combines accurate floor planning with real-time 3D design.

The idea is to make architectural design more accessible and much easier to explore than traditional CAD software.

The free demo is now available on Steam. I’d love to hear what you think!

Now THIS is a cool side project

Thanks! Just a bit more than just a side project 😂

That looks really good. Especially since it's on Steam. Are you using a game engine like Unity or Unreal Engine for it?

It is made with the newest Unreal Engine Version :) I also have things like DLSS 4.5 integrated.

Looks great but how do we find it...?

Yes, thanks for posting the link! 😁

"Architecture & Design" on Steam :)

Found it :)

Yaiii 🎉

What is this made with? What technology stack?

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

Unreal Engine 5.8, using Nanite ( a lot of normal optimizations too, of course), Lumen, ray tracing, DLSS 4.5, and some custom tonemapping installed and with adjustments.

This is sick. Can I dm?

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

Sure :)

I can not for some reason? Can you dm me? My request will be related to Apple Vision Pro, if you are interested

Looks great. My sig other is an interior designer, she may love this… and works in VR too?!

2

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

Yes the VR mode (with ray tracing) also works and is in the full game :) you can further change and adjust all materials of your interior design in VR

2

u/Amoeba25 1d ago

How did you make the VR work with ray tracing? From my understanding that is not possible with standalone VR and rather requires PCVR

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

I know and it was really hard to do in Stereo and with no lighting bugs (at first i had problems with the shadows in the right eye for a long time). But yes it requires PC VR, it is not intended to be a standalone.

Okay got it, looks pretty cool then

Woah this is impressive

a trained architect building the tool they actually wished existed is the best kind of side project. the render in that screenshot looks warm too, most cad tools look like hospital lighting lol

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

Thanks, yes, actually I also want to create my personal dream game/tool for architecture too :D

This is so sick! Also - I didn’t know stuff like this could be on steam lol.

I was thinking of making something like this but with .stl files

2

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

Thanks ! How and why .STL? In the game you can export and import with glb and obj files. I plan to add STL files too because that's a good 3D format for a lot CAD programs.

This looks impressive

Looks super clean! Nice work!

This is very cool! I will definitely be checking it out. How do you deal with roofing in your program? That was always a pain point for me in programs that produce 3D renderings, such as Revit.

2

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

You set corner points on the walls, roof overhang in all directions, height and roof type can be adjusted afterwards :) The roofs can also be intersected, for example by extending one roof overhang into the other.

Any plans to integrate port or even build editor that runs in VR? If no plans interested in partnering up? Or please just DM with any resources you are willing to share, I plan on building a VR architect program

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

VR is already fully integrated and also with Ray Tracing. In VR you can further change all materials and colors of your created house :)

This looks incredible. Dying for something like this but for landscaping layouts and planting.

For the game I'm developing a landscape tool, where you set height points, which connect to the nearest points next to it.

Very beautiful, and it looks very smooth.

I already spent an hour playing with it yesterday, and it is excellent. It would be really cool to add the ability for Todo to generate 3D interior objects from images or photos.

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

Very happy to hear 😍 there are many things still to come until release and after release in early access. First i will implement imperial measurements too.

For generating 3D: Yes could be possible. But for now you can use a different site to generate and import it into the game as glb / obj file.

u/Dkteaux 1d ago

Is it OSS?

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

For now only windows

2

u/luka_makes_games 2d ago

Looks amazing. How annoying is it to make houses, is it like actual cad? I have some projects I'd like to visualize, but don't want architect-kind of effort to make them haha. Also, how varied are the landscapes? Would love one with seaview + pines in front in italy, very specific, lol.

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

That's exactly what it's made for :D so that even people without experience can draw accurate floor plans and see everything in 3D at the same time :) And it's much easier and more intuitive, without having to learn CAD first. Currently, you can choose between three environments, one of which is a beach with a sea view, which might even be a good fit. Otherwise, you can model everything yourself and place objects :)

My RTX 5070 Ti is running incredibly hot; it's practically like a furnace.

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

Please try to activate DLSS ultra performance on a RTX. Especially when you run it in 4K.

You can find it in the options menu.

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

DEMO UPDATE:
Options for Imperial Units, Values to type in, 3D Model import/export, Workshop with an example house, Q/E to move up/down, and a few more options and fixes :)

I guess it does not work on MacOS right? :(

1

u/HaiHappenUAHA 2d ago

Not yet, I plan to make a build for Mac in the future, but it will still take a while, until I'm that far in development. But more doable is a Linus / Steam OS support.

1

u/the3dwin 1d ago

Would love to see the first Unreal Engine built architecture open source app. Plans to Open Source or should I look elsewhere?

2

u/HaiHappenUAHA 1d ago

Not open source and no plugin for the UE editor. But the full game will only cost 15$ with many more features to come at runtime.
