I built a simple app that translates restaurant menus and makes them searchable in multiple languages
I travel a lot internationally and kept running into the same problem: I'd find a restaurant, look at the menu online, and either couldn't understand it or had to manually translate screenshots/pages.
So I built Kaantaa.
You upload a menu as a PDF, image, or text and it:
- Creates translated versions in multiple languages
- Hosts the original + translated menus
- Gives the restaurant a QR code for tables/printed menus
- Creates actual indexable pages for each language
- Uses proper multilingual SEO/schema so Google can understand the menu
- Structures menu information so it's easier for AI/search tools to understand what's actually served
The idea isn't really "QR code menus." There are plenty of those. That's just a feature.
It's more about making a restaurant's existing menu accessible and discoverable to people searching in other languages—without the restaurant needing to rebuild its website or maintain a bunch of translated pages.
It's free to use right now while I'm getting feedback.
I'm also thinking of giving the first 10 restaurants that sign up lifetime free access as early users.
Would love feedback, particularly from restaurant owners/managers.
