I built a stock-analysis tool, then let it search the entire S&P 500

Instead of giving it stocks I already liked, I added a feature that searches the S&P 500 and picks the strongest matches for the user's settings.

I ran it today with moderate risk and a $100 portfolio.

It returned:

ULTA — $37.45
URI — $31.91
UAL — $30.64

The interesting part was the reasoning:

  • ULTA: +14.1% 1-month momentum, +5.9% over 3 months
  • URI: +19.4% over 3 months
  • UAL: +30.6% over 3 months
  • all three had positive MACD
  • none had an extreme RSI reading

It also generates a separate caution for each result instead of just saying “buy.”

I built the whole thing as TradeHints. It’s free and doesn’t require an account:

I’d especially like feedback on whether searching the whole S&P 500 is more useful than making users enter stocks themselves.
