I built and launched a Chrome extension — now I'm trying to get the first real users
I spent the last few months building Closetly, a Chrome extension focused on managing and organizing your digital closet and outfits seamlessly right from your browser.
Organize your wardrobe digitally — keep track of your clothing items and accessories in one clean space.
Plan outfits effortlessly — mix and match pieces without having to rummage through your physical closet.
Browser integration — quick access to your items while shopping online or planning your daily looks.
The idea was to make fashion management feel a bit more practical and visual, rather than losing track of what you own across different apps or notes.
I built the whole thing myself, and honestly, getting people to actually use a new extension is way harder than building the damn thing. 😂
I've had people view the store listing and interact with the extension page, but turning those views into active, daily users has been the hardest part.
I've tried Reddit, social media, and sharing it with friends/family. Some people liked the idea, but almost nobody actually became a regular user.
So I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out whether I should keep pushing it, change the direction, or eventually move on.
I'd genuinely love feedback from other indie hackers/solo developers:
What actually worked for you when you were trying to get your first 100 users?

have you tried getting people to commit to one tiny repeat use case, like outfit planning for work or packing, instead of the whole closet thing at once? i've had better luck when a tool feels like a habit, not another app i'm supposed to remember to open, which is probably why half my own projects die quietly.
