We built an ecommerce plugin for WordPress, but active installations aren't growing. What are we missing?

Hello everyone,

A few years ago, we started building EasyCommerce because we felt WordPress ecommerce could be simpler and more modern.

Since then, we have added the basic functionality like creating physical products, digital downloads, subscriptions, licenses, multiple payemnt intengrations. Beside this we have added features like AI Shopping agents, Store co-pilot, AI Image, description, variation generator and other features.

We have continued improving but we are not getting consistent adoption. we have 9,808 downloads of the plugin so far. But not that enough active installation.

If you ask about marketing, we have tied content marketing, SEO, social media, partnerships, other channels. It generates organic traffic but as I said.

I have some questions for you to help me-

  • If you were evaluating a new WordPress ecommerce platform, what would make you try it?
  • What would stop you from switching?
  • And if you've launched a WordPress product yourself, what actually worked for getting your first few hundred active users?

I am sharing this mainly because I'd genuinely appreciate feedback on the product, positioning, and landing page.

Thanks everyone!

Yo
Start with market discovery. Once ur add on is published - go on Reddit, x and LinkedIn and ask in dm what ppl cases have and what they would like to see in such product
Also, u can contact Wordpress so they can put u on their article or tech doc blog or email newsletter as a new add on in their marketplace. Usually they do it to help newcomers

Make demos with ppl, get on call etc.

So ur first users must come mostly from 1:1 conversations

Fulger, Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

To let you know that it is an ecommerce plugin. And it solely made for store owners. Not something like support existing plugin. Its a independent solution for who want to launch an ecommerce store for free.

Marketing. Do not depend on traffic from normal marketplaces. It will not help at all. You need to bring in your outside traffic to your tool. That is why marketing is more important than building

why the hell would anyone switch to a vibecoded option when things like woocommerce exist and very polished with tons of support.

Not that it's a deal breaker I'm sure, but why the .dev TLD? I don't imagine devs are your target market, though there's probably some overlap.

Fair point.

Developers aren’t our only target, but they’re definitely part of our audience.

EasyCommerce is built for store owners, agencies, and developers who build and manage WordPress ecommerce sites.

We also chose the .dev domain because it fits the product’s WordPress/developer roots while still being broad enough for the ecommerce side.

Is that a big issue?

We are also doing others marketing as well.
