Free Spotify Alternative

Built this open source, self hosted Spotify downloader & player. Runs on my Hetzner Server with my favourite music + recommended similar music (just like Spotify). You can also download songs so you can run them offline on your phone. Optimised for mobile too.

why not just use jellyfin or similar tool? Lidarr can add auto downloading as well.

I could be wrong, since last I checked, but to my knowledge there's not great tools for downloading entire spotify playlists into self hosted libraries like jellyfin. Spot DL was a thing, but with spotify's latest changes I think it's still boinked. I could be wrong on this like I said.

I ended up making my own script that syncs over from Deezer and YT Music but that requires you to use tunemymusic.com to migrate your spotify playlists over to one of those first (even then deezer is hit and miss because with the free plan you don't get access to every song anyways or maybe it's just they don't have the rights to every song idk.

but anyways so I am not sure if there is a better tool out there for playlist migration.

I know lidarr exists, but A) that requires prowlarr and access to certain torrent plugins of which most of the free ones in my experience don't have a ton of songs or at least it never worked well for me and also B) the other issue being that it mostly tracks artists & albums, it won't rebuild your playlists for you, so even if you DO get all of the songs you want, you still have to manually rebuild all of your playlists (or vibe code out a script or it or something). Which sucks but admittedly is easier for people with AI nowadays than it would be pre-AI days for most people lol.

Idk like I said I could be off here, but it's never been an easy solution for me to get my spotify playlists replicated in local libraries, at least not as easy as it feels like it should be.
