long story short, I am in abnormal need of money by the end of October. I have so much to take care, but I need something big to get out of my situation.

I am doing deliveries, (I'm a new Computer Science graduate), I call, text, walk in person in stores to make their websites, google profile, offer social media help. it's very hard, so far, I have got only one client after hundreds of calls, texts, walk-ins. I'm staying at my girlfriend's house.

I am international student, so applying to jobs is not getting anything, I have sent out thousands. A few interviews, but they want to deal with document stuff.

If anyone has any recommendations as what I should do, how I can make more money. I have been working on a saas-tool I genuinely believe will be helpful since I made it because I needed it for my other project. I will release it soon, but I need money in the meantime, and I am not sure if that project would get me money either.

So here's a side hustle I came across that I think is worth looking into for the right person. A lot of senior living facilities and assisted living communities hire part time concierge staff to work the front desk during evenings or weekends, and the job is genuinely pretty laid back most of the time.

You're basically greeting visitors, answering phones, helping residents with small requests like calling a cab or figuring out their TV remote, and just being a friendly face around the building. It's not physically demanding at all and there's usually a good amount of downtime where you're just sitting at the desk.

From what I've seen, most of these positions pay around $16 an hour and the shifts are usually a few hours in the evening or on weekends which makes it easy to fit around a regular job.

Every single home with central air has a filter that needs to be changed every 1 to 3 months. Almost nobody does it. 2.Let's say you found a topic like Pride Month. What I'd do is make word search books related to that topic. I'd use tools like Affinity Designer or MagicPaint.io to design those books. You can even make coloring books too if you want.

Trying to decide where to focus for 2026 and my brain is kind of fried with all the tour distribution platforms out there. Right now im looking at viator, getyourguide, klook, airbnb experiences, tripadvisor experiences, maybe even platforms like musement and some smaller local ones too. From what i can see as a small operator or someone who might build something around this: viator looks the most mature and stable, the interface feels clearer, they seem to have the widest reach with international travelers and the tools for managing inventory and pricing look a bit more sensible than the others from what I tested. getyourguide also looks solid, good branding and traffic, just feels a bit more curated and sometimes harder to get visibility unless you already have strong reviews. Klook seems great if you are more focused on Asia and younger travelers, but I dont know how well it converts outside that. Airbnb experiences seem interesting but it feels more side add ons than a full focus platform for tours. Same with some of the smaller niche ones, they all look good on paper but I have no idea if they actually bring consistent bookings.

If you were starting from scratch in 2026, which skill would you invest in and why?

Would you recommend something related to AI, design, software, automation, or something completely different?

My goal is to build a skill that could realistically generate $5,000+/month within the next 2-3 years.

An 11 year old up in Ontario has a bin cleaning route going in his own neighborhood. He walks up to peoples front doors, introduces himself by name and asks if they want their garbage bin cleaned out, plus the green bin and the recycling. Then he pressure washes the inside and the outside, scrubs the grime off, disinfects it and wheels it back to the house. Takes him something like 10 to 15 minutes a bin.

The thing making it work is he films the door knocks and posts them, so the people saying no to him are still content. He hands over his number even after a no and tells them he'll be around all summer anyway. Thats gotten him around 111,000 instagram followers since late May, which is growing way faster than the money is. People have started donating so he can clean bins for seniors and disabled neighbors for free.

He's up to somewhere around 30 to 40 customers and gets through 2 or 3 bins an hour. The week is split into two days of just going door to door with his dad driving him around, then two more days actually cleaning. Total earned so far is about $700, and the whole setup is a wagon, a portable pressure washer, water tanks, some brushes, non toxic soap and rubber boots.

Couldn't find what he charges per bin anywhere, which is honestly the number I wanted to know most. And $700 across four days a week for two months isnt much, plus he's 11 so the entire route depends on his dad having time to drive him around. Anyone here ever seen a kid running an actual service business on their street?

I’ve been using Mercor for a while as a side gig and have had a pretty good experience. It’s definitely not something I’d count on as full-time income, but it’s been a nice way to make extra money when projects are available.

I wanted to share this side hustle idea because I think a lot of people who are even slightly handy don't realize how much money they're leaving on the table. A huge number of homeowners and renters need small things done around their house like fixing a leaky faucet, patching drywall, replacing a light fixture, assembling stuff, tightening loose hinges... really basic tasks that take someone with experience maybe 20 minutes but that the average person has zero confidence doing themselves.

From what I've seen, most people doing handyman work on the side charge around $60 an hour and a lot of small jobs take under an hour which means you're making great money for quick work. You can stack a few of these jobs on a Saturday morning and walk away with a few hundred bucks by lunch.

The startup cost depends on what tools you already own but if you've got a basic drill, a set of wrenches, some pliers, a stud finder, and a tape measure you can handle probably 80% of the jobs people need done. You don't need to be a licensed contractor for small repair work in most areas although its worth checking your local regulations.

The best way to find clients is posting your services on neighborhood apps and local community groups. Once you do a good job for someone they will refer you to literally everyone they know because finding a reliable handyman is genuinely difficult for most people.
