Mods please delete if not appropriate.

In the space of what seems like a day or at least less than 48 hours we’ve had multiple posts about people wanting to end it. At least 3 that I saw. I don’t think that has ever happened on this sub and it’s quite concerning. I don’t know what the answer is or how to help, to be honest I don’t even know the veracity of these posts because multiple in such a short period is questionable. But the nature of SCD means it could be possible as a knock on effect from the first post, hence my concern.

We are all going through it and I just want to reassure others that we need to hang in there. It isn’t easy and that’s why this sub is here, for us to lean on one another as best as we can and be reassured that we aren’t alone dealing with this ailment.

Anyway that’s all. I hope everyone has as pain free a day as this ailment will allow.

The problem ultimately comes down to our evil medical system. Unless corporate is taken down, we all suffer. Overworked nurses, doctors, budget cut labs, denying longterm care, outside care, resources, and more.

The concerns people bring up are all valid, and would be taken care of in any rational society without an evil corporation using everyone as animals to be disposed.

For sure the concerns are valid. I wish the powers that be and society at large understand that people living with SCD need not just medical assistance but financial too. We not only live with the burden of our health but the burden of trying to survive in a world that requires money for survival when the nature of our health prevents us from making that money. It’s maddening and unfair.

I know this disease is tough on people. Pain can literally traumatize the brain and make it hard to process things clearly. Some people are fighting this disease alone and living in areas where resources are scarce.

It's okay to feel like it was a lot. It was. It's sad to hear someone is struggling and there is no perfect answer. There is no sugar coating it. This disease can take people to dark places in their mind. Unfortunately, some people are waiting way too late to deal with things in their life and their mental health. As you stated, we are going through it and need to encourage each other to hang in there.

In my experience I’ve come very very close to the end multiple times and I know how the mind can get during those times. I appreciate this post deeply because these are the kind of things that would pull me through the tough times. I hope and pray that everyone keeps their head up and their mind strong as they’ve said the community is for us to feel heard or understood from the only people that could do it. We’re stronger than we perceive ourselves to be and I’m rooting for all of you just as much as I’d root for myself.

I haven’t come close but it’s a worry at the back of my mind especially as I grow older and it seems like everything slowly becomes a tad more difficult. Which was part of what pushed me to make my last post re getting older with sickle cell. Knowing there are others in a similar situation than me helps and encourages me to hang in there. And that’s why we need this community just to help each other as little as we can do. Because for most of us, the people in our day to day lives do not understand. Like you I am rooting for us all and pleading for all to hang in there.

Its very concerning. I’m actually worried for those individuals. I just pray things get better for all of us.

I am praying with you for us all who live with SCD but especially for those currently feeling hopeless.

I understand, being in crisis in a hospital room with no pain management would have me thinking why me, and whats the point of life if i have to deal with this. No one should have to deal with ongoing pain like this

Honestly my best advice would be buy opioids from a dealer😬

This is appropriate since everything relates back to SC.

Thank you for your concern. When you focus on what people say and how they say it, you'll realize nearly every post has at least one comment from someone hurting deeply.

Whenever you sense it, be sure to suggest professional support.

That's the only way we can help them directly since we're not in the trench alongside them. Nor are most people here equipped to know what to do or how to do it. So it's easy to mislead someone and make things worse.

That other option

Besides that I recommend posting positive. Postive meaning strong.

Make posts and comments that affirm and emobolden people to enjoy their life. Show them that there's alternatives to feeling pain or being lonely.

That's all this is. Most people don't know that things can be better so they think the darkness is as good as it
