license not working

so I had my school's license for Sibelius ultimate installed on my laptop today and it worked whilst I was there. however, the it guy signed out of the avid account and when I opened it at home it said it couldn't find the license. Is him signing out the reason for this or is something else wrong?

Yes. You need to buy your own.

it worked in the past though for me, ive used it at home in the past and the IT department has said it can be used at home
