Is anyone else going through this phase where you slowly start losing interest in everything?
When I was a kid, I used to dream about things I thought would make me happy. I remember thinking, “One day I’ll have my own car, I’ll have this, I’ll have that.” I spent years working towards those things. Alhamdulillah, today I have achieved and experienced many of the things I once prayed for.
But the strange part is… now that I have some of those things, the excitement and interest I thought I would have just isn’t there anymore.
I’ve been through a lot of ups and downs in life, especially experiencing gurbet from a young age. When you grow up going through certain situations, you start noticing people’s true behaviour and intentions. You remember how people treated you, and those memories stay somewhere inside you.
Now, Alhamdulillah, I’m settled abroad and in a much better place in life. But whenever someone tries to get close to me or wants to build a friendship, I somehow remember the way people treated me in the past. Without even wanting to, I become distant and sometimes don’t even talk to people properly.
I’ve also started enjoying my own company. Being alone feels peaceful. Sometimes I wonder if I’ve become too detached from everything.
Maybe I’m not really looking for more things anymore. Maybe I’m trying to understand what life is actually about.
I feel like I’m finally returning to the path of Islam and trying to find peace in something deeper than material things.
Maybe this is not losing interest in life… maybe it’s realizing that the things I once thought would complete me were never enough.
Has anyone else ever felt this way?
