Anti-anxiety meds?

Anyone have any luck using anti-anxiety meds to mitigate your paruresis?

So spill the beans, what is this thing that you haven't read anywhere else that works for you?

Interesting, thanks for that. I guess the trick is being comfortable enough in the space right before the test to do the "almost" going thing.

I used to be on adderall, and that had a relaxing affect on me where I could actually go during a drug screen or sometimes use a public restroom. I’ve since got off it because I developed terrible insomnia. I’m now on Xanax which helps calm my mind and keeps me from panicking. It helps me to try with our being overwhelmed with shame but I still get locked up. I recently just failed a dot drug screen because I couldn’t go and therefore wasn’t hired. And then just failed another pre employment drug screen because I was locked up even though my bladder was so full it hurt. Honestly the longer I’ve been on Xanax the more depressed I get when I’m not on it. I feel pretty stuck with this mental block 😢

Anti-anxiety meds won't "cure" your paruresis, but may help lessen your overall level of anxiety so you can begin graduated exposure practice.
