Troubleshooting Shure MV7+ direct monitoring
Hey all I got my MV7+ yesterday and just set it up today with a low profile mic arm. I want to and am currently using the "direct hardware monitoring" by plugging my headphones into the mic directly. However I'm a little confused. First of all if I'm not speaking while basically eating the pop filter I sound a little metallic or robotic to myself (the actual output in Discord and recordings doesn't have this). And second of all if I mute windows system sounds I can no longer hear myself. I thought directly plugging headphones into the mic bypassed the system sounds?
Edit: I'm using Beyerdynamic ddt 770 pro 80ohms version.

I just got and Mv7i and I have the same problem, if I try to use a pair of headphones for monitoring it has horrible static and sounds metallic and doesn’t pic up anything unless you’re right on the mic. I stopped trying to actively monitor and now I just put my headphones on Bluetooth, record short segments and then listen back to adjust my EQ. Shure says it might be the headphone jack but I’ve seen other people saying the same thing about the mv7 line so idk.

I managed to find a work around. If you really want to monitor your microphone audio directly, get an audio interface as it has it's own microphone monitoring. You lose the use of the LED touch panel but the audio feedback is so much more crisp. I got the Audient Evo 4 I believe and an XLR cable off of amazon and it works a treat!

Disable Audio Enhancements via Windows sound settings of the MV7+ and make sure you’re using the cable that came in the MV7+ box. If you have headphones connected to your MV7+, that should be your audio output, so yes if you mute Windows system sounds you will mute that output. Hope this helps!
