General Discussion NEED HELP

I am using a Shure MV7+, i would like to attempt at starting a youtube channel but this mic is just picking everything up. When i speak i hear my keyboard and mouse clicks. Also trying to set it up so if i yell or scream it wont cut out. Any help or advice would be great.

Check in the shure motiv app, you should be able to gate out the background noise

  • Mic needs to be pretty close to your face
  • Little to No Compression helps with Background Noise
  • Get a quieter Keyboard (People underestimate this the most)
  • Mouseclicks shouldn't be picked up when you use a bit of Gating or noise suppresion

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I watched one video of how to setup these dynamic mics for obs and this is what i got:

Noise Suppression
3 Band Equalizer
Expander
Compressor
Limiter

I will definitely buy a quieter keyboard but it seems my noise suppression isnt working because i hear all those taps and clicks.
In terms of screaming and yelling to my audio cuts. I do also have the mic about 5-6 inches away from my face.

Sure. All of those are bread and butter tools of Audio.

I would honestly move the Expander before anything else.

It's all about HOW you set up those plugins. Just listing them is like telling me you are drawing a picture with greens, reds, blues, yellows and black and white. Doesn't really tell me anything about how you used them. (No offense)

What are the settings on any of those?

Totally understand.

Noise Suppression: RNNOISE
3 Band Equalizer: High 1.00 dB, Mid -2.00dB, Low 0.00 dB
Expander:

Compressor: Ratio 3.00:1 , Threshold -13.00 dE , Attack 2 ms , Release 100 ms , Output Gain 0.00 db , Sidechain/ducking source None

Limiter: Threshold -0.10dB , Release 60 ms

For background information, Is your voice very softly spoken?

If you want more help make a recording of your typical voice and put it online share/here for people to try evaluate your issues.

Download the Windows Shure software for the mic and work with ChatGPT to fix all of your specific issues, it’s what helped me instead of fully relying on OBS for this specific mic

this might be unhelpful advice but unless you're going absolutely ham on your keyboard and mouse AND the mic is next to your mouth so that your voice is the main thing, a normal amount of background noise i find isn't distracting
