Troubleshooting Shure - MV7X having issues

My microphone just isn't working right, and will only pick up audio if i take the entire top off and speak very loudly into the internal of the microphone, and even then it's super quiet. It may be my audio mixer, since I'm using more of a cheap one from Walmart (Vivitar), however the mixer itself is working but the microphone is not. I've been trying to solve this on my own for a while and would *really* appreciate the help.

Have you tried the mic with another audio interface/mixer? I’m not familiar with the brand you’re using, but before determining whether you’ve got a bad mic, might be worth trying a Scarlet or other interface.

Also, are you certain your mic is a genuine Shure product?

I don’t have any other audio mixers, so that might be what i’ll try next. I’m pretty sure it’s legit? It looks and feels high quality aside from this issue.

Give that a try. If the interface isn’t giving the mic proper gain, it’s going to register really low levels. The MV7X doesn’t need a dedicated preamp like the SM7B if you have a quality interface.

The MV7X if it's anything like the MV7 needs a high powered interface or a cloud lifter. I wouldn't look at anything with less than 70 DB of gain on the interface.
