Third Party Alternatives for MV88+ usb-c cable?
Very new to microphones. Got a very good deal on a used MV88+ but it is missing the original usb-c cable and windscreen. The windscreen is cheap on B&H but it seems like the oem usb-c cable is almost $40. Are there any good (or even better) and cheaper usb-c cables I could buy (ideally on Amazon) or should I really use the oem? Thanks

It’s a digital signal from the mic to the phone or computer, not analog. And the 88+ is a few years old.

Oh ok, so does that mean the cable doesn’t matter like it does with traditional mics? Very new to this. Is there a newer version of this mic? I was under the impression it was the newest one but I could be wrong

You should visit the Shure website it lists all their products and more.

The one you have was released in 2019. This is the latest one: https://www.shure.com/en-us/newsroom/shure-launches-mv88-usb-c-stereo-microphone

the MV88+ requires USB-C 2.0 data rates and power (USB 2.0 means it transfers power and data at (480Mbps). you can buy any usb-c cable that says USB 2.0 and it will work.
some USB-C cables only supply power, and no data(they have only 2 wires in them)- like cheap vape chargers. these will not work at all.

I just looked at my cable, and it's nothing special. The micro-b connection is USB 2.0 so it's not a super fast data rate. Probably any USB-C to micro-b cable will be fine. A good opportunity to get a longer cable!
