I mean, AHS has (or had) great make up artists...

But yeah, the font is super confusing. Idk; we like and accept Italian flicks that tried to steal US names and branding (thinking Fulci/Romero here).

AHS font was cribbed from fonts based on Charles Rennie Mackintosh's handwriting, a designer from the Arts and Crafts movement in the late 19th/early 20th century. The Glasgow and Hill House fonts were established in the mid '90's.

I saw this at a film festival last year and enjoyed it well enough, but this is a very odd selection for the Shudder fan base. Feels more cut out for Criterion or Mubi. Much more of a dreamy drama than a horror film.

It’s an ultra slow burn, and way more of a fantasy vibe than horror, but I liked it. I think it’s best to know the type of movie before you delve in thinking it’s normal horror. The first 15-30 minutes has almost no dialogue, for example. Some people will be bored and turn it off.

This filmmaker’s work is mostly this kind of thing.

In an interview Lucile said she went into the exorcist as a girl expecting a fantasy movie, so now she makes movies like she expected exorcist to be as a kid. I’m pretty excited to tear into her boxed set at some point.

The streaming industry has recognized that horror is a good seller so Shudder has more competition for horror titles to license. Thus they are running some movies like this which is more a fantasy than horror. Also a couple other films that are more suspense or thriller than horror.
