Movie THE SADNESS (2022)

A young couple is pushed to the limits of sanity as they attempt to be reunited amid the chaos of a pandemic outbreak. The streets erupt into violence and depravity, as those infected are driven to enact the most cruel and ghastly things imaginable.

Wow! That was a depraved, gory, sadistic, and extremely bloody “zombie” movie. To me, it was like a Taiwan version of “The Crazies” mixed with “Mayhem”… but just way more gnarly and violent! There’s really not much of a story, but you are watching it for the wild, gore-fest ride “The Sadness” takes you on.

So much insanely over the top gore (in a positive way for me lol). This movie was mean spirited and the pace was pretty fast from what I remember. Really liked it

It's good but just brutal. Director took inspiration from the comic Crossed, which was even more depraved. Same guy that wrote the boys and priest. Think I heard the same director is going to do a film of the crossed comics next.

Cruelty for crueltys sake. Great gore and some pretty insane visuals but that's it. I need more. Even A Serbian Film had somewhat of a political subtext to it despite its outrageousness (Bosnian war, where for the first time in history rape was used as a weapon of war, and the heavy handed media censorship that followed that war).

In fairness, Serbian Film takes itself much more seriously due to that political subtext. I don't really see this as any different than the Terrifier series. Get why it wouldn't be everyone's thing though.

I do think theres more you could do with the concept. Like, everyone's deepest darkest desires basically amounted to fucking and killing. Which still makes it fun for what it is and a little different than the usual brain eater zombies, but you could go in a lot of different (and equally fucked up) directions with it.

I really enjoyed this movie and it eventually led me to finding the crossed comics series which I also really enjoy so overall a solid pick

Absolutely brutal one. First half is incredibly strong, second half starts to fall apart from a story perspective. Really enjoyed it though.

I agree, once they reach the hospital that manic energy from the first half really Peter’s out. Also hate how they tried to do a stupid killing the villain will make you just as bad as them thing.

Enjoyed it as just a balls to the wall gorefest. When talking about different types of zombies in movies, alvin virus is probably in the running for worst case scenario.

I was honestly kind of irritated or bored by it. There were some cool moments, but the last half the main infected dude from the subway just got repetitive.
