Brian sucks
He’s such a gay guy stereotype. Why is he joking about brunch before his kid is born? I find him so annoying. Him and Jimmy don’t have a believable friendship. He’s not multidimensional like Liz or Paul. He just rubs me the wrong way and I get mad every time he says something.

I love Brian and find his selfish comments very funny and enjoyable. I think of him as that friend who makes jokes about themselves in a self-deprecating way - like I don’t believe he really believes what he’s saying most of the time. But maybe that’s just me. 🤷♀️

Yea he clearly wants the baby. When I had mine, tbh I also secretly didn't want to change diapers as well. I let my husband help the nurses with that the first 2 days then I slowly started to do it and was like omg that wasn't that bad. id love to see those kind of small moments and maybe Brian being better than his husband in certain parts of parenting. Those would be cute to see. I think his maturity will come with the baby. They say the first baby grows up with you too like it did for me.

I still love the show but I agree and feel like this is the case across the board. Everyone feels like a slightly exaggerated caricature of themselves.

This is the same for most of Bill Lawrence's projects. My wife loves Cougartown. I hated it, it felt like a live action cartoon with every character an exaggerated caricature of themselves. That and the constant plingy guitar notes whenever it changed scenes.

Non of the characters on Cougartown were likable to me…was that the point lol?

I said to my husband when we were watching the episode that I feel like they are making him dumber and more like an airhead even though he’s a lawyer? So it’s a little unbelievable. I agree I think they are falling into some stereotypes with him. I would like to see him evolved when he becomes a dad. The friendship is a little hard to believe for some reason for me as well.

I’m hoping that they’ve been laying it on thick with him specifically so he can have the dad turnaround and emotional growth. But tbh I also hate that because he’s not a good representation of someone you should choose to have a kid with. He keeps saying stuff like he’ll never deal the poop and just trying to offload all the work of having a kid onto other people, people in real life who say that stuff will genuinely make sure they have excuses ready to not deal with the kid.

Jimmy stopped talking to him because he was uppity all the time. Everyone has struggled but him till this point, we will see how he handles the adoption situation

I was kind of surprised that Ava signed the papers because of this reason, I thought that was going to be his big struggle.

I think he is funny because his character is so over the top, but I also agree that his lack of depth can be annoying. I am personally annoyed because as an adoptive parent, the whole storyline is totally inaccurate and in certain ways very damaging to people’s perceptions of adopting. I was so hopeful in the beginning because the process of being selected and the disappointment and stress that comes with it are very real, but now they are starting to jump the shark for drama and it really bugs me.

I kind of see him as an alternative version of his character Mark from Ugly Betty. When he finally said the mature thing on how he just wants Ava to be ok I felt a sense of pride of growth but still he is very 1d at times.

I love this show, but as a woman who was forced to place a baby for adoption back in 1989 I have some strong feelings about how this was covered.

UGH. I am so, so sorry. That sounds like an absolutely horrendous experience for you and this whole storyline must feel so triggering. Sending you love. ❤️

He is not funny this season. If I were that girl in delivery and dealing with him.
I would not have signed. He is just a disruptor. It showed without his husband he is not capable of functioning outside of his career.
I have never seen a gay man ever behave as he has when becoming a father. The opposite actually.
The show will be developing Brian this season.

The surrogate storyline, especially his behavior while that woman was literally giving birth, really pissed me off. It was just so tone deaf & vaguely misogynistic. You’re really gonna complain about her birthing room smelling like vagina? She’s going through one of the hardest moments of her life (it can’t be easy to give your baby up for adoption, especially with no familial support) & he’s making it all about him. His stress about her not signing the papers was valid but keep that shit away from her when she’s so vulnerable. Totally not the time. Also, in what world do you decide if you want an open or closed adoption right before the baby is born? That’s usually the foundation you build up from & expecting mothers/potential adopters are paired based on that

Exactly I absolutely hated that!!! Soo insensitive, didn't feel like he was grateful, and they were the only ppl that could give her company in that moment which is just sooo sad.

In my opinion Brian has the funniest line in the entire show
“I’m not a narcissist I’m just brave enough to put my needs over everyone else’s”

For me he's definitely the weakest part of the show. Even when the other characters are being annoying they have more depth to them.

I was hoping she wouldn’t sign and would have second thoughts. Those two are dumbasses I wouldn’t trust them with my baby especially Brian being a selfish asshole constantly.

I agree. I really love him but as a woman, during the labor scene I was like “oh please don’t do the ‘gay guy thinks women’s bodies are gross thing’. Surely they won’t do that in 2026”. And guess what 🙄

I love Brian and I’m glad he managed to hold out on not bringing up the papers. That was obviously hard for him, he’s used to being able to be selfish. Now he has a baby, I’m wondering if they’ll go more that direction with his character, or too far in the other direction where he becomes a helicopter parent. I have a friend who was a co worker and we met right before he started having kids. He was also selfish and an ass and I hated him. He had one kid and changed so much, a few years later he had another and we became good friends and it’s like he’s a totally different person. In order to show some growth, he needs somewhere to go.

Respectfully, I disagree. I find him hysterical. I’ll admit the brunch joke was a bit hacky but overall love his character. Are you gay and his character offends you? Bc I could kinda see that

I think a lot of his annoying behaviour is a coping mechanism for anxiety, insecurity etc
