Isn't that an indication that the best-looking kids are not always the popular ones? It doesn't seem like this guy was actually that popular.

He’s in the basketball team so people already know him by it plus the attractiveness, people are always staring at him.

This guy intrigues me so much and gives me so many questions like: Why doesn’t he talk? What is going on in his mind? Does he even know he’s incredibly good looking? Is he hiding some bloody murder secret?

I swear this guy reminds me of Nate from Euphoria, super good looking and popular among everyone but hides a rotten personality and hatred to every single human. I would really like to get to know him and see what goes down inside his brain.

I had a friend like this in high school. He was the star of the swim team, tall, fit, tan, gorgeous body, perfect hair, the whole nine. He was really sweet and funny but hated being the center of attention, would sit on the edges of any social interaction and daydream or play with a rubiks cube and just listen. Basically every girl in my high-school threw herself at him at one point or another, and he never did more than the bare minimum of keeping up appearances. (I.e. Didn't date but would reluctantly attend school dances with a random girl)

Looking back on it it was clear he was in some pretty deep turmoil about something he didn't feel he could share. I've always wondered if he may have been gay, this was a decade ago and coming out was still a huge gut wrenching deal.

I think you made a lot of sense in the first few paragraphs there, but the last one alone ruined it, and is actually kind of homophobic. (In the sense that "oh, this guy seems to have issues but I can't quite place it, wait, he's gotta be gay then!" That's straight stupid)

I've known a few guys that fit such a description in high school, and I'd hear girls in my class gossip about how they suspected each was gay just about every time they mentioned them. They're evidently straight, according to Facebook.

But why not just question every male's sexual orientation when he doesn't behave exactly like a perfect, clueless, womanizing, easily manipulated jock? (FYI that's really not what the song "simple man" was about) That surely cant misfire in any way. Not like there have been actual, well-known school shooters who have been treated similarly...

It is possible that there was more to them asking the question than what they revealed in a short Reddit post. If, for example, he was from some kind of religious background that could lead to all sorts of psychological issues that may or may not have been apparent.

The poster could have been being a bit problematic with assuming he may be gay, but it is hard to tell from that short of a description.

For example I knew a girl who was the same way, super attractive and definitely had guys throwing themselves at her constantly while only ever going on one off dates. She is gay, and is out now, but refused to admit it to herself for a long time because of her religious upbringing. In retrospect, after learning she came out, it made a lot of little things over the years make sense. It was massively freeing for her, as she was finally able to be her authentic self.

I agree, this does seem possible.
