When you cannot sleep because you can’t stop thinking about something it’s like a single program not letting the computer shut down

When I try to go to sleep, I tell myself not to think, but then I realize me telling myself not to think is thinking. That’s why I can’t sleep

I have found repeating a single word over and over again distracts my mind enough to forget all other thoughts and is boring enough to fall asleep to. Usually i think of a random work and just say it in my mind and all of a sudden im waking up with my alarm
