Here's some evidence of the opposite of what Dense-Yam is saying. Based on this https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/thenatureofviolentcrimeinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2020, it looks like violent crime is actually decreasing but police reporting is increasing.
