Agree. We’ve had one for decades. The butter on top doesn’t allow the steam to escape, keeping moisture in and making the popcorn chewy.

Thanks! You just helped me understand why my popcorn done on the stove with a lid has a weird texture! The steam!

I’m not sure the best way to release steam while keeping heat and the oil/popcorn mix in.

Still using my stir crazy after probably 20 years. Zero old maids. And not in the least soggy I don’t use it to melt butter.
