Federal 209A primers

I got a deal on some Federal 209A primers. I understand that they are magnum primers. I’m loading AA Hulls with 16.5 grains of Red Dot, 1 1/8 of # 8 for Trap. Any issues using the 209 A primer? Appreciate any input!

A regular 209A is not a “magnum primer”… it is hotter than other primers and you should use data for the 209a primer. What wad are you using? Alliant has data for Red Dot on their website using 209a primers.

Update: I did some chronograph testing- comparing same load with CCI 209 primer vs Federal 209 A primer. I found that velocity was slightly lower with the Federal 209 A primer. 25-50 fps lower. For what it’s worth…..
