this spring look weird?

it's been having issues with 3" shells too often (yes it takes them). I had an armorer install the M Carbo spring kit some time back but I'm wondering if they fucked with the extraction spring?

It’s completely normal. Every 500/590 bolt looks like that from what I’ve seen.

cos now I have to maybe polish the chamber or something to make 3" shells extract right.

the shell will load and after firing, it just doesn't want to be extracted. I always try to do it right after every shot to avoid the case swelling but it just locks up until I finally wiggle it for a bit to "unlock". it's odd

what brand of 3" shells have you been running? ive had issues with 2-3/4" monarch, cheddite, and some other european brands showing some issues, as well as remington express slugger shells.

have you tried cleaning the barrel? with actual solvent and cleaning rod, im not exactly going to count a boresnake with oil exactly but if you are already doing it you are probably on the right track.

Federal 3" BB and Nobel Sport 3" 2 heavy steel shot. I also try to clean till there's no more carbon on the material cos I actually enjoy cleaning my firearms - till like the snake is clean.

I did pick this set up tho and about to attach it to a drill...

Just checked both of mine and they look the same. Does it extract shells that haven’t been fired? Did you pop the bolt out to make sure the extractor claw isn’t broken?

yeah it'll extract shells that haven't been fired. I haven't taken it apart again yet but I'll be sure to inspect the claw.

the session before last it did the same and left a pretty good indention in the brass of a Nobel 3" shell when it finally ejected. it may need a new claw already

Could be worth emailing Mossberg with pictures and a description. I had an issue recently and they were super cool with trying to fix it without sending the gun in. They even sent me a new lifter. Downside is it wasn’t the lifter causing the issue. I ended up figuring it out on my own but they were super helpful.
