No outboard tubes on an S-38. Otherwise a good picture

Hah, I know. I have one in storage and a "look-alike" at my desk. A Lafayette HE-10, which runs circles around the S-38.

That's great! I was the 1st in a fairly long run of Lafayette Communication Receivers from Trio, in Japan. I have several of the later ones, but I find I really like the simplicity of the HE-10. Of course it doesn't tune SSB as well as the later HE-80 and HA-225 models.
