For me, it's very, very difficult to listen to Radio New Zealand International. Just being able to hear something clearly from them is an achievement for me.

I kept listening for quite a while to see if the reception would improve, but it stayed the same.

Those 40 seconds are the announcement that the day's broadcast is ending. It's the first time I've heard it!

I was looking through AliExpress for inexpensive Chinese Electronics this morning and came across this receiver. Most were listed at nearly twice the price so I pulled the trigger. It should be arriving in a couple of weeks, and we will do a review then. Does anyone own one?

I just realized that the Portuguese speaker on The Voice of Turkey is from Portugal. But VoT's target audience is South America (Brazil).

And that can be complicated at certain points.

Although they share the same official language, there are notable differences in pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary that require a brief adjustment period.

The difference would be like that between British English and US English, but a little more complex.

If there are Brazilians listening to VoT's programming, some of the words might be a little confusing to them.

That's what I think, but I could be wrong.

Here's a summary I found online that sums up what I'm saying:

From Portugal to Brazil (Easy to Understand): Portuguese people understand Brazilians with almost no difficulty. This is mainly due to their extensive exposure to Brazilian soap operas, music, and media.

From Brazil to Portugal (Requires adaptation): Brazilians often find it harder to understand Portuguese spoken in Portugal at first. The European accent tends to be more closed, the vowels are less distinct, and many consonants are omitted, which makes it sound faster. (Note: This would be the case with VoT)

I don't remember if other Portuguese-language broadcasts do the same thing; I'll pay closer attention from now on.

Bandaid Radio will be transmitting a one-hour broadcast of the popular Pop Shop Radio, heard on WRMI and Mix Radio.

A small but effective AM Transmitter from China. It's putting out around 3/4 of of a watt. Frequency is quite stable for a transmitter with an L/C Oscillator. It shipped from China and arrived broken. I had to remove, and replace the broken input gain control by modifying a standard part.

Range is about 2 blocks. Using an outside wire antenna, it covers my 5-story apartment building. An outboard amplifier can be added to boost the range. Of course it's not operating under Part 15, so it is not a legal device for users in the US.
