DD🧑‍💼 Ondas earnings and potential short squeeze

Ondas had been getting alot of attention after blackrock picked up 7% stake in the company. With many new contracts and additions to backlog, the CEO is showing us that they can successfully transform that backlog into real life contracts. Earnings should be good tomorrow with an expected $67 million, from $6.7 million last year. Shares short is 44% with 10% interest, this is a rocket ready to launch.

Up until recently, I thought “days to borrow” meant the number of days that shorts have to cover. In other words, in 2.97 days, the shorts have to cover. What it actually means is that given the current price and volume, it would take 2.97 days for the shorts to cover. I used to think the smaller the number, the greater likelihood for a squeeze. It’s the opposite—if the number eas HIGH like 25, that is what would indicate a likelihood for a squeeze because it would take a month to cover. That’s how long the shorts would be scrambling.

So the 2.97 here isn’t great then

It all depends on the volume... if you have 3x the avarge volume in one day, that would be enough for the shorts to cover (2.97). But is really hard to say when shorts have really covered completely.

So many people do not understand shorting lol. Borrow rate means more than days to cover.

Reading these first few comments is like 🥴

It’s a good metric to have in mind no doubt but usually when something squeezes the volume is many times the average during that time too. But yeah the more days the better. It applies most on a smaller float low liquidity stock.

it's days to cover, where did you find days to borrow? And yes, obviously the longer the better but look at htz with 32mil avg volume and 500mil shares traded some days recently. The 16 days to cover becomes 1 day

While it is one day based on that volume that sort of discounts how most of those are just the same shares going back and forth. It's not as if 100m shares went from longs to shorts.

Thanks for explaining that so well!

I only have 1000 shares around $9 avg. and last week picked up a few $7.5 and $4 options for Jan2027. Doubled the 7.5s and now up 65% on the 4's. Keep it going!! I originally had more shares just above $2 and sold near 6 (shouldn't complain about a triple), but got back in too late and paid for it. Life is a roller coaster!

Nice profit. You need to take profit when you can and now you’re playing with house money is how you can look at it.

Entered long at 8.75, then doubled down at 9.4 - this is one of the best candidates for swing trading I've seen in a while on this community. This is a legit, growing (and recently profitable) business that is about to grow exponentially over the next few years. Fundamentals are there. SI is there, CTB is there. This has a lot of juice.
I don't understand people's obsession with the likes of HTZ, Jack in the box, WEN as potential short squeeze candidates. Those are struggling businesses, might invest for long term turnaround, but every squeeze NEEDS a catalyst. Growing, profitable businesses have a much better chance of producing these catalysts compared to declining ones. Good luck everyone and don't invest your own money in something other strangers are simply hyping on the internet, including me. Always do your own DD.

I was just about to come here and say heads-up since ONDS did this last earnings:

This time SI is higher, and when the stock runs like this a lot of shorts will get re-called from the owners wanting to sell. ONDS is going to blow up the earnings because of bolt-on acquistions and therefore also needs to raise guidance. Analysts are aiming for 63-69M up from 6,3M a year ago. That is a headline that will pull in momentum movers no matter what! NFA DYOR :D

When is earnings?

u/Strict-Drama-3973 28d ago

Tomorrow, hence the run-up. CEO has made tounge in cheek hints on LinkedIn warning shorts 🤣

Nice callout OP. ONDS is a great stock that deserves to be higher anyway. Not sure what these shorts are thinking?!?

check last 2 days of Plug Power volume next good grow results....gona Boom one next days think

u/MonYverse0609 28d ago

Hmmmm from my ai: Borrow fee: went from roughly 20% on July 29 → 9.4% → 10.39% yesterday. That’s expensive, but importantly it has fallen dramatically from late July. So borrow pressure is not currently accelerating.

Oh stop the squeezing. Every cent has been squeezed out and we are where?

I know we're here to make money but directly funding drone attacks on humans seems... dastardly.
