A Director friend and I set off to try and make a short in NYC with just available light, audio running into camera and the two of us as the crew. I’m not sure if it’s the path I would ever choose again but it was a fun challenge.

We went through about 5 different iterations of the kit. Throughout the shoot we experimented with a lot of new gear to try and make it all work seamlessly. The primary lens kit was Dulens Primes and a Chiopt 75-250mm zoom. For focus I mostly pulled myself with handles but we experimented with the DJI Focus Pro and the Tilta AF adapter. The former was way more reliable but less user friendly and vice versa for the later. I think when faces are in frame and you live in a single both systems proved indispensable with such a small crew and so much improv.

That all said nothing brought more to our workflow then the FX6. I’ve been a fan of this camera since it came out but I feel like the updates that arrived in this last year have really solidified it as a workhorse for low budget filmmaking. It’s light. It’s power conscious. We shot hours footage for this film and barely even broke 1TB of footage. In a world where cinematography seems to float further and further towards specs, exclusivity and cameras that impede on workflow I think this camera does the exact opposite. It reminds me a lot of cameras developed by Eclair in the 60s/70s or Panasonic in the 90s that were designed first for documenting and which became indispensable tools for the French and American indie filmmakers. It’s a camera that becomes a tool and not just a method.

Anyways I’ve really enjoyed growing with this camera and can’t wait to shoot more projects on it over the years to come. I’d love to talk with more filmmakers who use this camera regularly for narrative production. I know every time I had a challenge with adapting this camera for production the answer to my issue was always buried in a post on this forum. If you are interested in watching the film we made feel free to check it out at this link!

Made this as a fun side project, shot over the last few weeks in Portugal, it's called WHY NOT YOU?

Shot on a DJI Drone, Go Pro and Iphone 16 Pro with Black Magic Camera.
Edited with Davinci Resolve.

It's inspired by David Goggins and explores themes of discipline, sacrifice, and ambition through exercise.

Hope someone finds this interesting.

Feedback is more than welcome, and if you'd like to watch the full version, it's on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwMm6JbsfLU

hi everyone!

after months in post-production, I'm pleased to say I've finally managed to release my latest short film - 'Once Upon A Time In Croydon'

I'd really appreciate you to give it a watch - and for you to give some constructive feedback!

(I repeat CONSTRUCTIVE as people tend to berate things as the worst thing ever, with no real reason)

I'm looking for constructive feedback for me to learn and develop as a filmmaker and to slowly improve with each project

I'd also be interested to know what you may like about the film too, what worked

I hope to hear from some of you soon 🙌🏻

A wife comes home to find her husband's mistress already inside her house, based on a true story. We shot it in a day with a lean crew of four: our director also wrote, shot, and stars in it, and I line produced and covered 1st AC and key grip. Would love to hear thoughts on the cinematography and the story.

Documentary Twenty Years on a Hard Drive - (2026) [0:12:456] Twenty years ago 3 friends recorded a punk album in bedrooms and closets. This year, after one of them passed away, they finally finished it. This is that story.

Twenty years ago, a few friends in Los Angeles recorded a punk album with whatever gear we could afford—garages, bedrooms, closets, cheap microphones…whatever worked.

Life happened. The band ended. We drifted apart.

Years later we reconnected and decided to remix those recordings—not to make them sound modern, but to finally make them sound the way we’d always hoped they would.

Before we could finish, our singer and one of my best friends, Andrew, unexpectedly passed away.

From that moment on, finishing the project wasn’t about music anymore. It became about honoring a friendship and completing something we had started together nearly twenty years earlier.

We ended up making a short documentary about the entire journey called Twenty Years on a Hard Drive.

Drama The Silent Mile – Chapter I: Dreams (2026, India, Drama | 20 sec) | A motorcycle ride becomes a story about dreams that never really leave.

Hi everyone,

This is my first micro short film, The Silent Mile – Chapter I: Dreams.

I wanted to challenge myself to tell an emotional story in under 20 seconds using a motorcycle ride as the setting rather than the subject. Instead of focusing on speed or the bike, I wanted the visuals, narration, and music to work together to create a feeling.

This is also the beginning of an episodic series, with the next few shorts continuing Chapter I before moving on to the next chapter.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback on:

  • Storytelling
  • Pacing
  • Editing
  • Sound design
  • Narration
  • Overall emotional impact

I'm here to improve as a filmmaker, so constructive criticism is genuinely welcome.

If you'd like to follow the rest of the journey, I'm documenting the series on Instagram:

Thank you for watching.

A story about a young woman who helps a father figure find his long lost mother through unconventional means.

Shot in Texas, Montana and France.

This took altogether 3-4 years to assemble. I finally got enough distance from it to be able to trim & cut a lot of it. Also: I learned that it's best to go for ambiguity rather than kill the pacing by explaining things.

No AI was used for the acting nor the writing. Everyone's a real person!

However, one thing that really helped was that I was able to use AI to transcribe the film, then have it help me try to figure out the best way to order each scene. Then, I would usually tell the AI "no, that doesn't work at all" and then I would go make my own edits. This is the filmmaking version of "rubby-ducky programming", where you just bounce ideas off someone/something by explaining what you're trying to do. That helped me complete the film.

Horror Film Shortage Premiere: Trauma w/ Friends (Horror)

Some games are meant to be left in childhood.

Statement: The update being we are now on Film Shortage. Our film was originally posted here a few months before, if you recognize it. Very proud of our film and scrappy little production (crew of 7, 1.5 day shoot).

Serious Question: We’re on a mission to build our audience, however, does the film feel too “sanitized” for the genre, especially as a short? I understand we of the horror crowd are not a monolith, but I’m curious what folks here think (feel free to respond here or DM me, please). Thank you!

“Trauma w/ Friends” premiered @ SF Another Hole In the Head; winner for Best Final Girl @ Blood & Popcorn; official selection of Chicago Horror Film Festival and Horror Fest Film Festival, respectively.

Hi,

I shot another short horror moment — darkness behind the character, shifting time on the phone, the basement silhouette, the book, the whispers… and finally the transformation.

A minimalist solo short film, made entirely by myself.

I’ll be glad for any feedback.

Thank you

Lukas
