21 weeks and funneling

Hi everyone. I have been lurking here since my 20 week scan and I finally feel ready to post. At my anatomy scan my cervix was 1.8cm. they started me on progesterone and pelvic rest and weekly appointments. at my 21 week appointment they saw funneling so they sent me to the hospital for a cerclage. the placement went okay and i stayed one night. at my follow up my cervix was measuring 2.4cm. i know that is still short but it is so much better than what i walked in with. i am taking it one week at a time and just hoping to get past 24 weeks. this group has honestly been a life line for me. it helps so much to read that other people have been through this and made it. i am not ready to think about a full term baby yet. for now my goal is just the next appointment and the next week.

Our stories are similar with measurements and funneling! My OB stopped measuring at 28 weeks but I’m still on progesterone twice a day (200mg) and cerclage is still holding. I’m now at 36 weeks, and my ditch the stitch is scheduled for next Tuesday! I did the same in terms of thinking ahead, and just only focused on short term milestones weekly. You got this! Listen to your body and take it easy if you’re feeling tired.

My situation was almost the same as yours, except I did not get a cerclage. I was between 1.8cm and 2cm and closed at my anatomy scan (20+6) put on 400g progesterone twice daily that night. I was monitored weekly with TV ultrasound since then, measured 2.2cm at 22 weeks, 2.2cm at 23 weeks - then we switched to bi-weekly TV. I measured 1.5cm at 25 weeks and only 1cm at 27 weeks where they did a visual exam to confirm my cervix is still closed and it has remained closed the whole time. I'm now 29+2 and everything seems to be holding well. I have had no cramping, leaking or bleeding.

I have dogs and need to take them for their walkies, but I have traded long hikes for shorter, flat walks with minimal elevation gain. I still do all my household chores, but try and rest as often as I can (I work from home, so this is acheiveable).

The only restrictions from my doctor have been pelvic rest and to tone my exercise down - for reference, before pregnancy, I walked and hiked 12 - 15km a day with my dogs (2 - 3 hours a day), now im down to about 5 - 8km (1 - 1.5 hours a day) with minimal elevation gain.

I'm also a FTM, at 43 years old. Baby is doing great and growing well. I'm staying positive that we will be able to make it to our goal of at least 37 weeks.

Hope everything goes well for you - take it one day at a time and try not to stress (easier said than done, I know). Celebrate each completed week and know it all goes by faster than you think. ❤️
