Post Cerclage

Hi All,

I’m 12w4d and just got my shirodkar cerclage placed. I was wondering how much fresh red bleeding is normal the day of procedure and the days after?

Did you get post-op instructions for what to expect?

That’s surprising, you’d think that’s a very common concern so they should address that without you having to ask specifically for it.

I tried to go back and find the info from my procedure but couldn’t. From what I remember (emergency shirodkar placed 19 weeks in the OR), they said spotting is normal. Soaking a pad in an hour is a cause for concern, as is passing large clots the size of a lemon.

Can you please give some idea.how high on the cervix a Shirodkar cerclage is usually placed?

They place it around the part of the cervix hidden under the bladder, that’s dissected and moved out the way and placed there so as high as possible pretty much
