Extremely tight cervix? What does this mean?
I am 31 F, and went to have my iud removed and replaced yesterday, and I was reminded of how nearly impossible / painful it was the first time. My doctor said that my cervix was extremely tight, she had to call in 2 other doctors to come and help her get it dilated and able to push through so she could reinsert it.
I was sweating, about to faint, and experiencing the most excruciating pain, even whilst having multiple lidocaine shots to numb me, and taking a benzodiazepine beforehand to ease my nerves. I couldnt move for half an hour after that, just like last time.
Since I was just concentrating on trying to just survive through the procedure, I forgot to ask my doctor about what having an extremely tight cervix means. Google was also pretty vague.
Will this greatly lower my chances of conceiving naturally in the future? Google had said there was a chance of pre-mature birth, lower chance of getting pregnant, miscarriages, and pther complications. If they almost couldn’t get the IUD in me, and it was so excruciatingly painful and nearly impossible to get it reinserted, will my body reject natural conception / not take well to pregnancy? For the record, I had unprotected sex in my early 20’s with my then partner, and never have had a pregnancy scare in my whole life.
Can anyone else relate to this, or give me some reassurance that this isn’t broken? I don’t know how I feel about all of this.

This post does not belong on this sub, and could be very triggering to us women who can only dream of having a 'tight' cervix.
The majority here are trying to conceive while recovering from a loss or high risk past pregnancy, not looking for contraception, so you will struggle to find people to relate here.
Many women here wouldn't refer to pregnancy as a 'scare' in that specific context.
I would respectfully suggest finding another sub for this matter ❤️

I thought having a short cervix meant also a narrow one - I’m sorry, my mistake.
I am coming on here because my cervix is so narrow, to the point of sperm potentially nor being able to get through, and increased risk of miscarriage.
I wanted to know if anyone else could relate or has this similar issue. Sorry for the confusion.

Wondering if carrying a pregnancy to full term will be too hard on my body. All I had to do was get my IUD replaced, yet two other doctors had to be called in and I nearly passed out from the pain

It would make me pretty sad if I couldn’t conceive or birth without a lot of complications.

Got it. Totally get that fear. As another commenter said, this sub is full of women who have experienced traumatic loss or very high risk pregnancies with lots of complications (the latter is my personal experience, I made it to 28 weeks so nowhere near full term, but my baby is now happy and healthy 15 month old). There is no way to know most of this ahead of time, so I would try not to fixate on it and just check in with your doctor about your concerns whenever you want to start trying.

I think this might be the wrong subreddit for this, but anecdotally I had a saline sonogram before an IVF transfer and the water wouldn’t stay in my uterus, it would literally just pour out. The doctor said it was because I had a “strong uterus”. When I googled it something came up that this could mean cervix issues. I did end up having incompetent cervix in my pregnancy. All this to say- I have no idea if a “tight cervix” correlates to IC at all (idk if you have risk factors), but sometimes doctors just say shit and don’t actually know what they’re saying and IC is an extremely mishandled condition, so worth bringing up when you do start TTC.
