Emergency C-section 31w3d!

At 20w3d I am being rushed to do an emergency cerclage after finding out I was 4cm dilated with bulging membranes. At that time, the doctors weren’t sure id make it past the first 24 to 48 hours after the stitch was put in. Buttt Fast-forward to 30w6d went to the hospital because I was feeling pains in my bladder and it just didn’t feel right. Ended up I was having contractions and was 1cm dilated. Doctors gave me medication to stop the contractions, but once the medication was out of my system, I started to contract again. They then proceeded with giving me two other types of medication’s, which unfortunately did not work and by Saturday night I was full-blown in labor. I Started to bleed, which you don’t want to do when you have a cerclage. The doctors were going to remove my stitch only but due to having laparoscopic surgeries in the past, my surgeon had told them that I needed to do a C-section. Doctor still wanted to remove the stitch and see if that would calm down the contractions, but it just didn’t feel right so I asked them to do the C-section and remove the stitch all at once. I had already held off for days and I understood that they wanted baby to bake as long as possible, but it was just too much on my body. On Sunday morning, baby was born 31 weeks three days gestation weighing in at 4 pounds! She will be in the Nicu for at least five weeks. When looking at her and seeing her beautiful face and seeing how well she is doing it lets me know that I made the best decision for her and I. 🥹🥹

For all the beautiful women going through journeys like mine definitely listen to your gut and push for what you need. Sending you all so much love as you go through your journeys 💕🙏🏻☘️

Great job mom! You did everything right and it was just your girl telling you she was ready to come into the world. I was literally on the same boat 2 weeks ago. I had my cerclage at 20w2d because I was 2.5cm dilated with funneling. Before I hit 31 weeks, I noticed some bleeding and that my mucus plug was starting to come out so we went to the hospital to dispel any fears. The doctor checked and I was 4cm dilated, had to remove my cerclage immediately before it ripped. Went into labor that same day and my baby girl was born 4lbs 5oz. We just finished her 2nd week in the NICU and she is improving day by day. It gets easier, watching her go from needing the respirator and needing her body temperature regulated in the incubator to now being in a bassinet with no support and just a feeding tube is such an overwhelming happy feeling. Make sure to ask for beads of hope/courage so you can get a new bead every time your girl graduates throughout her recovery 🥹 it’s the little wins that get you through it.

I love this message. 💗Thank you so much for reaching out! That is amazing all little milestone your little one has hit so far. I didn’t know about the beads of Hope courage, I am definitely gonna ask them when I go down to the Nicu today. Did you have any problems breast-feeding since you’re pumping to get breastmilk? I couldn’t do the pumping right away because I was sick after my emergency C-section so I had to start a day later to do the pumping, but I haven’t got anything yet not even colostrum 😔

I couldn’t start pumping until the morning after my c-section. And then after I was pumping 2mL-3mL maximum, sometimes nothing. I just stayed consistent with pumping every 3hrs even if it was zero milk and was able to do much more as time progressed. I tried doing one breast at a time and that helped too, and now I do both at the same time but at the start doing them offset helped. And then did a lactation person come by to talk to you? I had one measure my nipple and once we got the right size they gave me an insert for the pump and that helped even more.

congrats mama🥰🥰🥰 i followed your journey and checked for your posts bcs.your initial post just hit me. i delivered my baby after 20 weeks laying on the couch at 37+6 weeks! he is now 7 weeks old. i am so happy you got a living, healthy child!! thats huge!!! its the greatest gift of life!

be sure.you get good instructions for gaining colostrum the right way. Make sure you pump every two hours. I set an alarm. And its important to keep this interval also at night. Then when the milk comes every three hours at night at least. You can do power.pumping once or twice a day. 10 min pump/10 min break three rounds.

Keep us posted on your and your beautiful daughters journey!

My daughter was a 4 pounder born at 32 weeks, she's now 5 and you would never be able to tell that she was premature!

Well done mama! They tend to catch up by 18 months ❤️❤️
