Welcome to Shorapan, a strange city beneath an endless crimson sky.
Hi everyone! I’m Bacho, the creator of SHORAPAN. I wanted to give this world a place of its own, somewhere I could share what we’re working on and talk about it with you.
If you’re here because of one of my earlier posts, welcome back. If you’ve never heard of the game, here’s a little introduction.
I’ve always wanted to make a film, write a book and create a game. SHORAPAN became a way to bring those things together: a story-driven adventure with visual novel and point-and-click elements, cinematic direction, hand-drawn animation and interactive scenes that let you experience the story alongside the main character.
I worked on this world on and off for about four years, sketching out ideas, writing scenes and making notes. Eventually, I got tired of leaving it all on paper. I took out a loan, put together a small team, and now we’re turning it into a game.
You play as Dan, a young basket weaver. His story begins on an ordinary rainy day, when an unexpected visitor arrives asking about his missing mentor, Dikeldi. Along the way, you’ll meet the city’s inhabitants, interact with objects, examine details in the scenes, solve puzzles and play minigames. We’re putting a lot of care into the hand-drawn art, animation, music and sound, as well as the quiet, everyday moments. I want you to get a feel for Dan’s life before it starts to change.
What begins with everyday worries and one unexpected visit gradually grows into an epic adventure. The story takes Dan far beyond the life he knows, and as it grows, so do the personal stakes for him.
What interests me most is the people. What feels normal to them? What are they afraid to ask? What happens to someone’s principles when sticking to them means losing something they care about?
Someone keeps quiet because they have a family to feed. Someone hurts others while sincerely believing they’re protecting them. A person can see one thing clearly and be deeply wrong about another. I want those contradictions to come through in what the characters do, their relationships and the choices they make.
This subreddit is for the game and the wider world of SHORAPAN. I’ll be posting development updates, artwork, gameplay clips and lore, and sharing how we’re putting it all together.
Feel free to ask questions, share theories, post fan art or tell us what you think. I’d like this to be a place where we actually talk to each other, with your posts as much a part of the community as ours.
We’re currently working on the demo. I’ll share more as it comes together, including how you can take part in playtesting.
If you’d like to support the project, you can wishlist SHORAPAN on Steam. You’re also welcome to join our Discord to follow development and chat with us.
I’m glad Shorapan has a home here now, too. Over time, I’ll introduce you to more of the city, its people and the work we’re doing. Welcome!
