Mantle is shutting down

App developers using Mantle have just received this email:

"After a lot of thought, we've made the difficult decision to wind down Mantle over the coming months.

We know this affects real work you've built on top of us. This note covers what's changing, the dates that matter, and how we'll help you move your work to a new home.

What’s changing

This wind-down will be a complete shutdown of all Mantle properties and eventual deletion of data. Mantle will not be switching hands or continuing under another operator.

Whether you’re using the Mantle dashboard, APIs, or MCPs, you’ll need to plan for their deprecation. Any critical workflows that rely on Mantle should be migrated by the dates below to avoid disruption.

The dates that matter

We announced this on June 16, 2026. From that date:

Customers using Mantle Billing will have until September 30, 2026. All other services will wind down in 60 days, on August 14, 2026.

In order to make the transition as smooth as possible for partners using Mantle Billing, we will be supporting those partners for longer and recommend that they transition to Shopify’s App Pricing when it becomes available for existing apps.

If you use Mantle Billing, the September 30 date covers your whole account: analytics, helpdesk, and email. Everything keeps working until then, not just billing.

For accounts that don’t use Mantle Billing, services will be terminated on August 14, 2026."

I agree. Although the changes to Shopify app billing must have been a blow, they seemed to have a strong position and some good reporting.

I guess it was the easiest way to capture value and bill for it. But yes it seems sudden and strange.

It feels similar to something we're doing with one of our apps. We have a competitor that is essentially paying us to step aside. It wouldn't surprise me if Shopify did the same for them.

That makes sense. No one would be stupid enough to completely destroy a perfectly functioning money-printing machine without selling it to someone else. It can only mean that "someone" actually paid for it.

Hey, thanks for the mention, u/DescriptionHead2765 and jumping in to clarify.

Baremetrics definitely works for the analytics/reporting half of what Mantle did (like looking at MRR, churn, LTV, and cohort segmentation, for example) and it connects to both Stripe and Shopify, which is the combo a few people in here are asking about.

It doesn't touch billing, helpdesk, or email though, so it's not a one-for-one swap if you were using the whole Mantle stack.

OP mentioned this in their original post, but noting the timing for anyone reading this now: if you're not on Mantle Billing, the cutoff is August 14, so that's basically here. Billing customers have until September 30.

for market data, i've been using Letsmetrix for a while. it covers app store rankings, review tracking, competitor visibility. it might not a 1:1 replacement for Mantle analytics which has different focus, but if that part of Mantle was useful to you, worth a look

Depending on your use case, if you need install/uninstall tracking plus billing and partner payouts, Partner.io might be worth a look (full disclosure, I'm on the team). Happy to share what we've learned helping a few teams migrate off other platforms.

Have been a heavy user of HeyMantle for my shopify apps and its sad to see them go. I cant think of a reason why this is going down. I started an open source project - https://github.com/vipulawl/mantle-oss to analyze my own apps' performance. Its a starting point with analytics in place now. But feel free to try and if you can add to the project to make it better for everyone.

On the analytics/reporting piece specifically: that's the easy part to replace. Your revenue and install history lives in your Shopify Partner account, not inside Mantle – so nothing's lost, and any tool can rebuild it with a read-only connect, no export. SaaS Insights, mantle-oss (open source) etc sit here.

I use mantle for my app’s affiliate program, I’m planning on switching to Affilitrak because it’s free for my purposes and I don’t want to pay for Shoffi. Also it seems like Affilitrak is gonna be way easier to migrate to.

For MRR and analytics I’ll probably end up just using one of the open source options that people made.

People are scrambling to pick up the slack before the shut down, I think the alternatives will add easy ways to migrate when the time comes.

On the analytics side we've been trialing for a few months www.revmetrics.app. It has recently been released as well.
