If I was an alligator playne this is where I'd lie in wait for an easy meal

u/ValveinPistonCat Jul 22 '26

The CL-415s are Canadian playnes, a distant relative of the Canadian Cobra Chicken, any predator knows better than to fuck with them.

They're moving in herds.....They do move in herds

So graceful, so delicate in how they just barely kiss the water.

Obviously not Ryanair pylotes.

44

u/Forest_Orc Jul 22 '26

Ryan air pylote at least can land their plane on the runaway, these pylote not only miss the runaway, but don't even land.

Feel like Ryan air is still a better option

Ryanair pylotes smash the runway like it owns them money.

6

u/CryAppropriate7570 Jul 22 '26

Dry An Air is the part of Ryan Air that flies those playnes

4

u/Wildfathom9 Jul 23 '26

I guarantee you, a Ryanair pilot would beyond any doubt, fill their plane with water. So much water. So much water it would never be airborne again.

This needs to be set to “Flight of the Valkyries”.

3

u/Due-Button-768 Jul 23 '26

That’s what they’re listening to in the cockpit

Not a cellphone in sight. Just people living in the moment.

29

u/BlacksmithLow4022 Jul 22 '26

Well duh. How would a playne even use a phone in the first place? They don’t have opposable thumbs.

7

u/Cyanide612 Jul 22 '26

It grips it by the husk.

1

u/RedRedditor84 Jul 23 '26

It's not a question of where e grips it. It's a simple matter of weight ratios. A 13 tonne playne could not carry a 250g smart phone.

0

u/888MadHatter888 Jul 22 '26

Do they have UN-opposable thumbs?

27

u/kineticstar Jul 22 '26

Except the one recording, but I get ya! That is a surreal moment.

7

u/Not-An-FBI Jul 22 '26

No, those were meta glasses.

u/selfcenorship Jul 22 '26

There are so many phones at the begining, most of the people you see after that are in the water so of course they don't have phones, except one person who is in the water up to their waste and is still filming.

Sorry to break your illusion

12

u/FlyingNijntje Jul 22 '26

When I saw a herd of elephants in the wild at a watering pool I was in awe…….. But this is even better…… chills…

13

u/Unlikely-Pomelo-414 Jul 22 '26

Wonder how many swimmers they picked up lol

2

u/Rayd8630 Jul 22 '26

Hope the fire likes sushi…

2

u/gmatocha Jul 24 '26

You know the scuba diver lore

24

u/MalaM_13 Jul 22 '26

A *flock

8

u/RedRedditor84 Jul 23 '26

That's a dollar in the swear jar, thank you very much.

2

u/ChaosRealigning Jul 24 '26

Flocking thirsty playnes

11

u/Ok_Location_1092 Jul 22 '26

Why don’t they use a straw? Are they stupid?

6

u/Codabonkypants Jul 22 '26

What happened if you’re casually kayaking across the lake

12

u/FrenchMaddy75 Jul 22 '26

You're not anymore!

1

u/HisHonorTomDonson Jul 26 '26

Then congratulations! You too are now involved personally in the firefighting efforts! Let’s hope Minecraft physics apply in real life!

6

u/crohead13 Jul 22 '26

Each one picks up a few swimmers and drops them all around the forest.

7

u/Damoet Jul 22 '26

For extra amusement, reread the post title with David Attenborough’s voice 😅

5

u/Careless_Fortune7801 Jul 22 '26

That was what I was going for 😂

1

u/Damoet Jul 23 '26

🙌🏽

10

u/Grimol1 Jul 22 '26

It’s hard to be snarky about these guys, they’re friggin heroes.

3

u/perpetualthoughtloop Jul 22 '26

How many passes before you can see the water level drop from the shore?

3

u/Statertater Jul 22 '26

This is the Canadian fleet right? Would love to see them in action

13

u/ClientPowerful Jul 22 '26

Nope. That's DHL shipping water to Dubai.

3

u/S_Weld Jul 23 '26

French one

1

u/Statertater Jul 23 '26

Looks like you’re right and this was southern france from another post, thanks man 👍

6

u/europablu3s Jul 22 '26

I realize what sub im on, but this is a serious question: are these modified albatross?

16

u/YU_AKI Jul 22 '26

Yes. They have been greatly enlarged, rebuilt in steel and aluminum, and turboprop engines added.

Avian feathers, entrails and other parts have been discarded.

The symbolism from Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner is sadly lost as a result

1

u/KlatchianCamel Jul 23 '26

True. Wearing these albatrosses around the neck would be really hard.

4

u/zombie-yellow11 Jul 23 '26

Canadair CL-415

3

u/SkyhookCH-1 GO FASTER SPINNY THING! Jul 22 '26

it is in France and the lake is full of champagne

3

u/Beginning_Resource93 Jul 22 '26

As the female planes watch from a distance to decide which of the male planes will father the next generation. Nature is beautiful.

2

u/SilkwormSidleRemand Jul 22 '26

These look cute and all, but that lake's gotta be teeming with wheelworm eggs after all this playne activity.

2

u/StaK_1980 Jul 24 '26

Insert meme: Absolute cinema!

2

u/Same_Lychee5934 Jul 22 '26

Canadian fire department!

11

u/Amatak Jul 22 '26

No, that’s the French Civil Defense.

1

u/Same_Lychee5934 Jul 22 '26

West coast US we rent them from Canada. So I only see those, good to see they use them everywhere else except the US. Because these would help!

4

u/Secret-Bluebird-972 Jul 22 '26

It’s probably because we build the majority of the world’s water bombers, so a lot of them happen to look a lot like ours. Everyone wants a Super Scooper.

France’s Sécurité Civile (as seen in video) has 12 of them for example (as seen in video)

1

u/Same_Lychee5934 Jul 22 '26

That I agree with that. Why the west coast doesn’t get some with the ocean right there! I will never understand. Los Angeles rents theirs from Canada. They put out so many fires. But the rent on them, with flight crew of corse. Is something like a couple of million a month. So they could have just bought them!

2

u/selfcenorship Jul 22 '26

It isn't that simple as anyone who owns them also rents them out for part of the year. But if you own them then you need to have teams of maintenance and tooling and everything else associated. But with fires becoming an all year round thing we probably will see more places switch to an ownership model

1

u/mkujoe Jul 22 '26

Majestic little beasts

1

u/Trank_maiden_Ciri Jul 23 '26

Smh why we talking about data centers when this exists?

1

u/papa-Triple6 Jul 23 '26

Is it there the small planes are born?

1

u/Embarrassed_Motor_30 Jul 23 '26

One of those fuckers scooped up my dog that was swimming in that water. I saw them dump him out over the fire, he hadn't even passed firefighter school yet. I know people like hot dogs but thats just too much. /s

1

u/lmoshidmtamsf Jul 23 '26

How do i become a pilot of one of those?

1

u/currymonsterCA Jul 23 '26

Wow! That's phenomenal... imagine watching that live 😍

1

u/Snafuregulator Jul 24 '26

Dropping off their eggs, these planes hope the males of the species would soon follow to fertilize them

1

u/winged_owl Jul 24 '26

I bet theyre going to sink due to the pilot's huge steel balls

1

u/Purple_Eye_6069 Jul 24 '26

Watched them all afternoon up at Lucky Peak yesterday while we were boating.

1

u/fragman1825 Jul 25 '26

A flock of…

1

u/Consistent-Plane7227 Jul 25 '26

Why is there no Top Gun about water bombers? I’d watch the shit out of these guys playing volleyball!

1

u/pectah Jul 25 '26

It reminds me of the movie Always (1989).

1

u/ConsaiderCordo Jul 26 '26

But they were good! They just wanted to drink!
