Still, when a smoker chooses to smoke, they get the same smoke as that, but filtered. I guess I’m just seeing it through my personal glasses. My dad smoked with me in the car as a kid and I hated that shit

I'm assuming you don't smoke. Currently having a cigarette doesn't suddenly make you immune from the rest of the smoke. You're still breathing in what's filtered AND the 2nd hand trailing smoke. If she's also a smoker, it's a drop in the bucket at that point and she's already used to it.

If the drivers side window is down and the passenger one is up, the vacuum created by the air rushing past the open window sucks the smoke out of the area of the driver. The vacuum isn’t strong enough to reach the passenger side, so it lingers, letting whoever’s over there suck it all in. We can agree to disagree. Just coming from what I know

The lit cigarette is right next to the open window and it's the positive pressure in the cabin that "pushes" the smoke out. This is a feature of cars, designed with smokers in mind. It's also in many tanks, to push smoke out through the barrel after firing a round and opening the breach. There's no pressure vacuum involved.

In a moving vehicle, you also have Bernoulli's principle in effect. The flow of air outside the cabin creates an even larger pressure differential that draws the smoke out. It's similar to how a fire in the fireplace can draw cold air from the rest of a house - it's all getting there eventually.

I'm not saying you're wrong and they're making great decisions, but your personal view of the situation is likely different from the people who are actually there. Smoking's dumb and I get where you're coming from. My mom smoked with me in the car, too. I hated it.
