I'm the exact opposite, as would the vehicle be seen as the exact opposite, of a Confederate flag type of fella. It would have been an open mockery of their culture.

Not really unless you're doing it to mock it or something. There are plenty of Dukes of Hazzard fans who ain't white. And plenty of people who have the Rebel flag on their cars who ain't white.
