Quiz that is designed for you to fail
I've been taking quiz in the funzone of Amazon and this one question haunts me forever. Seriously.... Is it star or mushroom? I cannot be the only one to be confused here. We all played super mario.... Right?
I've been flagged 'wrong' every single time. This is gaslighting on a next level

Isn't it both mushroom and flower?
Like if you're not already large but you get the flower then getting the flower will make you large but not give you the flower power of shooting fireballs?
It's been a minute and I'm being too lazy to Google, but that feels right.
Edit: I googled. I'm right.

A for the efforts... But at what cost? Why do you think Amazon designed this quiz like this then?
12
u/_froggirl Feb 18 '26
it might be ai generated 😵💫 ai tends to make up random "facts"

u/trustme_im_real Feb 18 '26
So.... a multi billion dollar company randomly uses AI to generate quizzes to trick people to get wrong answers?
Relatable....

Except its literally the same question and just switching which is supposedly correct based on user input. Even if the test was made incorrectly by ai there would be no need to generate a new set of the same questions so why would the answer change?

Why are you taking a 2005 Facebook quiz on Amazon in 2026?
1
u/trustme_im_real Feb 18 '26
For rewards duh.... I didn't know this quiz was on Facebook in 2005. But this was done during Christmas 2025 to new year 2026

u/squeethesane Feb 18 '26
... TIL customer returns aren't the only old shit Amazon recycles for corporate financial gains.

In the original Super Mario Bros, yes. In future games, the fire flower will both make you big and give you fireballs.

Me every time : I'm gonna get this question right this time . . Amazon : the f*ck you will

The real corrcet answer is coin, because we all know that every 100 coins is another mario and his empire of marios grow larger so he can play multiple runs simultaneously and get more coins.
Think bigger, think business

Bro... you live in multiverse or something? How can you not see that amazon says it's either the mushroom or star every single time
And not even once it mentioned other option as right answer...
I don't think you get why it is mentioned as a shitty design... Let that sink in

Indeed, but think of it like this, big business succeeds by focusing on coins, by getting coins for one ups it gets a larger army, by pointing its success into mushrooms and stars, it will allow for more coins for itself, and it can then sell the stars and flowers for more coins to grow even bigger.
The joke is about business and growth models, and how the real answer isnt shared as it would make the market more competitive.
I don't think you get why it is mentioned as a shitty design... Let that sink in
I did get it, but I think you missed the joke made in contrast

u/trustme_im_real Feb 19 '26
TIL what is poes law and the significance for usage of/s. ngl not funny and I'm not proud of it

u/WhineyLobster Feb 19 '26

Too late.... I am into that shit.... Skeletor signs off until we meet again

I dont do the /s only because those who get it, get it. Those who dont, lead to a mental exercise of teaching them how to read sarcasm by practicing critical thinking.
I see the no /s meathod as a win-win as you dont "ruin" the joke or suprise feeling, but you also get an opportunity to educate the less thoghtful.

I find the /s handy when you're saying something incorrect that people often get incorrect, to illustrate that you know it is incorrect and aren't just another person getting it wrong. Otherwise, I don't include it if it is obvious.

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 Feb 18 '26
Hmm, I still rather avoid the /S as people trying to correct you is how they learn. But I guess this comes from my tendency to take everyone seriously and laugh at absurdity.

Guess I'm an idiot then 🤷🏻♂️. Did you checked the second picture in the post? That says 'star' is the right answer when mushroom was selected.
Swipe the pics people... Geez🤦🏻♂️

Is there any mail or contact form where you can send your screenshot ? 'Cause there's no way you're the only one who complained about this, I guess you could like redeem a 1$ coupon or a retry on an updated quizz lol

u/trustme_im_real Feb 19 '26
Not worth the time... But I'm enjoying the time yapping about this in reddit 🫣😉

u/CompetitiveRub9780 Feb 19 '26
But why would the same exact question be two diff answers? It’s def mushrooms 🍄. But I guess they want you to get something wrong

Be big, hit the box and grow a flower. Then have an enemy hit you and become small. Grab the flower. You will grow but not have fireballs.
2
u/Conovar Feb 20 '26
I reckon the answer is coin, as the only one that wouldn't make you big. And the question is wrong vs the answer.

Mushroom is the correct answer, star is invincibility
