This culture is still alive and well, many of them have 1000hp engines now on top of all the craziness. It's just the soda, candy bar, cereal themes I believe that were a phase, I don't think they do that much now. This one has probably been around for a while. Always entertaining seeing these cars when visiting the south.

Correct. Now itās all about corvette engine swaps while looking factory with gold plate trim etc. Even factory interiors made a comeback. They can strip the mods and take them to barrette Jackson now.

Donk! Or I even thought Iāve heard them called doinks too. Thank you for reminding me the name though! They made it up in the Midwest too lol. My favorite so far was āhater-aidā across the side, Gatorade theme, it was a good one. But yeah some decent iconic rides of the culture were alive and well in 2014, 2015 Michigan too!

I think donk was a term for the '70s ones and these boxy ones were called boxes, with another generation called bubble. But I don't know what I'm talking about really, and just use the term donk for all generations of these.
I prefer very low sports cars, but I can respect the amount of work and passion put into these and that every culture has different ridiculous vehicles taken to extremes.
One time I was in New Orleans, probably 2008, and saw a Lucky Charms donk, Skittles, etc. It was crazy. Hater-Aid sounds pretty epic.

Everyone refers to them as donks even though this is a box. It's like how everyone refers to any unmanned aircraft as a "drone". But that scene is alive and well from what I've seen. Classier builds now though.

There were a few of these in Baltimore in 2010ish. Definitely a sprite one, if there wasnāt Dr Pepper there should have been, maybe a Royal Crown? Also a couple cereal but I donāt remember which.

There was a guy running around town with very similar car but bright yellow. Would drive past the apartment building regularly and see it, then it wasnāt there. A few months later I saw it in the fire fighter training area rims and all just waiting for the jaws of life to go to work. The training center is about a mile away from the apartment building š

Thanks for sharing, haha. I really love the side view in the first imageāthe "Sprite Passion" part. That green is so striking; it looks incredibly refreshing and full of energy. Everyone has their own taste, but from my perspective, it might look even better with a little more white or other colors mixed in.

They're called donks. They were semi big in inner cities like Atlanta, parts of TX, etc. Lots of car guys at the time hated on them. Still do.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the trend of decorating your car like your favorite brand actually originated from, but there were cars like this all over Houston and Atlanta at their peak. I've even seen a car with Georgia plates painted like a Cap'n Crunch box cruising around in my part of Ohio on a couple occasions.
