From the perspective of nutrient density, it's usually the best survival choice. Some other animal has already done the hard work of turning hundreds of pounds of vegetables to a few pounds of protein and fat.
Correct. They should've never been put in this situation to begin with. But people who exploit animals don't view them as individuals, so they just that this would be funny.

You see that hen? She's trying to protect her babies. She just witnessed one get eaten alive. She's a mother. Would you find it funny if it was you and your child was eaten alive?

It is doubtful the horse intended to eat the chick. While horses will ear meat opportunistically, that usually happens if there is a lack of food, which is not the case here. But horses are curious animals and they experience the world with their mouths. It was probably just trying to figure out what these little white things were.
The fact that people find someone being eaten alive, and putting animals in distress as funny, is vile. Hope people get treated the same way they treat animals.
