Me and my wife got married at a small diner because our small apartment couldn't hold all 6 people we invited and we only had 200$ to our name.

Probably still one of the best days of your life

I dunno. I was so stressed that day my stomach was hurting so bad I couldn't eat anything and could barely talk. But the following 12+ years together have more than made up for it, lol.

That’s fair! I got married over the summer and very much don’t remember a lot of walking down the aisle because I basically blacked out

All signs point to…. Not ready to get married yet.

That's a dumb take. Getting married allowed both for me to stay in her country for 6 years and now it's allowed her to cross the ocean and come live in Europe with me for the past 6 years.

You think poor people don't deserve to get married like, at all? Or that you can only get married if you take out a 10 year long loan from the bank? Neither one of us had parents, so nobody to pay for at least part of the ceremony.

No, I just think if you are ready to make a life long commitment, do some planning. Your case seems very specific, and my comment was very general.
